FILM
What is FILM?
The Frame-Interpol API, developed by Google Research, is an accessible tool designed for users to perform frame interpolation in dynamic scenes. It offers the capability to generate between 1 to 8 interpolated frames per video sequence, operating at a frame rate of 30 frames per second. This tool adopts a novel single-network methodology that delivers top-tier performance without relying on supplementary pre-trained networks, such as those used for optical flow or depth estimation. Remarkably, the model requires only a set of three consecutive frames for training and can complete the interpolation process in as little as 36 seconds on NVIDIA T4 GPU platforms. For those interested in delving deeper, the tool’s GitHub repository provides a wealth of additional resources, including scholarly references and practical usage examples.
